Your Gift From the Cross . . . Still Flows
Welcome to July’s Poetry and Prayer. This week I am sharing an old poem that came to mind recently, as I reflected on seasons from the past through new eyes, knowing now that God was there with me, when I didn’t yet see Him, blinded as I was back then by my pride and unbelief. I decided to edit bits to linger some more with Christ’s gift to us, not just on the Cross, but also in the steps He took toward the Cross for us.
I pray it kindles alive memories of your own of God’s faithful presence in your life, as you too look back at old seasons with new eyes. May we carry not just these reframed memories with us, but also the steps Jesus took toward the Cross for us, pondering them and treasuring them in our heart, with awe and wonder.
YOUR GIFT FROM THE CROSS . . . STILL FLOWS You never leave When rivers Dam. You never leave When heart Locks numb. You never leave When questions Buried lie. For You Have unleashed The river strong. You Have bled The Fount released. You Have raised The buried saved. It's now I see. Your ways They’re too wonderful Too wonderful To fathom, know. For in the kneeling, You were strengthened. In the scourging, You looked to the joy before you. In the dying, You opened the gates of hell. Not of this world But Kingdom come Faith Hope Love. Intimate, Your gift from the Cross Still flows. Romans 8: 23 NRSVCE and not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly while we wait for adoption, the redemption of our bodies.

Thank you so much Anna, for sharing these precious thoughts of our dear Savior. These words especially are touching me in places I have been lately:
"You never leave
When heart
Locks numb"
He is so faithful to His promises to stay and to awaken! Hugs and love across the ocean today. ❤️
